Repair and Regeneration

Objectives for Lesson 2

At the completion of this lesson, the student will be able:

  1. To define inflammation, to list the criteria necessary for inflammation to occur and to list the major groups of exciting agents.

  2. To describe in sequence the major vascular changes in an inflammatory reaction and the mediators of each change.

  3. To list the various types of exudates and their contents.

  4. To name the cells that may participate in an inflammatory reaction and to list synonyms, functions and source for each cell.

  5. To list the cardinal signs of inflammation and explain which of the inflammatory reactions elicits each sign.

  6. To name (stage) a particular inflammatory reaction.

  7. To distinguish between repair and regeneration and to describe the sequence of events in the formation of a scar.
